Things I miss about my Husband

I hate washing the dishes. For the last 10 years of my marriage- and before that at holdays- Ralph always did the dishes. It was our thing. I cooked- ie: I destroyed the kitchen while making a pretty good meal and he would clean up. Usually the next day, because he wanted to enjoy the rest of his evening, drinking box wine and watching old people TV- NCIS and the rest of those shows. I would go to bed with a novel and wake up early. Now I have to do my own damn dishes. He was a hell of a window cleaner, too. For the life of me I can't clean a window. Not with any cleaner on the market. I've not been able to see out my windshield in months. I've just lifted my damn beroom window out for the third time today trying to make it streak-free. No dice. It's been three years and three months since Ralph died and today I came to the realization that I don't cry or sob much at being without him except when I try to clean a fucking window.
I would say that's progress.

  1. It's progress! And, good memories to comfort you as you clean that dirty window. I bet Ralph cleaned the windows in his speedo!
